About Eastern Dist of Adelaide Inc

Eastern Districts of Adelaide includes the council areas of Mitcham, Unley, Burnside, Norwood, Kensington and Campbelltown taking in a large section of the foothills of the Mt Lofty Ranges which form the backdrop to the city of Adelaide. The area includes people of diverse ages, social and cultural backgrounds.

We work in and for local communities and beyond, fundraising, advocating, and undertaking hands-on projects to make an immediate impact. In 2024 our projects included advocating for legislative reform and providing practical support to local women and families escaping violence, funding bursaries and awards for leadership at local schools and Universities.

Our club is welcoming, and relaxed and meets 4th Monday of the month at 7pm at Burnside Community Centre to plan our activities and hear interesting speakers.

Projects

Some of our projects include

Penguin Lessons Film Fundraiser

In May 2025 we held a very successful fundraiser generously supported by the Regal Theatre Burnside. The proceeds of the tickets and raffle will go towards more mother and daughter camps at Second Chances (a cause we have supported for several years), and practical support and donations to Women's Safety Services for women and children escaping abuse and violence.

Student Awards

In 2024 two students from Mary Mackillop School were awarded a certificates and awarded for their community involvement.

Eastern Safety Services

The club raises funds and buys cleaning and electrical items for the women escaping violence, and donates emergency food packs for those relocated to a motel.

Ronald McDonald Dinners

The club prepares and cooks dinner for patients and their families at Ronald McDonald House twice a year, as part of the Meals from the Heart programme.

Raising Literacy Australia

We pack books and learning materials into bags which are then distributed to local community groups and libraries to encourage literacy skills in young children.
